What was the objective for Ida Automotive Inc.  to build an exhaust system for the Ford GT Super car?

We had customers who were experiencing high engine temperatures along with the loss of power, while on the race courses as well as on the highway.  After some testing we came up with a plan. Ford Motor Company was looking over our shoulder on this one.  We explained what need to be done and the heads of the GT division consulted with their engineers. It made sense to everyone. Their reply was “Bob, you can make it, we can’t.”  After testing and re testing we came up with a solution, Dyno and documented.  We installed two systems, one H pipe design and one X pipe design. Our Customers were then able to race 40 minute sessions with normal operation temperatures, under full power with out ever experiencing any loss of power or high coolant temperatures. We selected the H pipe because, overall, it just sounded and performed better. Our exhaust systems opened the door for more modifications that yielded 600 HP at the wheels documented.

                   Some of the reasons we did not do a full exhaust system were;

      1    Headers do come loose and blow gaskets, against an aluminum head, that’s not good.

2        Headers are difficult to install. Some I have seen had the collector come off like a racecar, and that is not a good idea. Having a 02 sensor mounted behind a slip fit collector is only asking for big trouble and could cause a blown engine.

3        We want to save the planet and keep the stock cats in place. Why not, we still can make 600+ RWHP.

4        Our system is easy to install and can easily be returned back to stock if need be.

We would love to make the system less expensive, but brilliant and talented employees do not come cheap.

  It has been brought to our attention that a certain GT Forum has deleted some of our customer’s favorable statements about our system, in order to direct customers to their advertisers. So here are just a few.

Here is what our customers are saying about our system;

" I just finished installing the exhaust. It sounds fantastic! ". Larry

"it has a nice look and sound.  The lighter weight is very noticable, especially when going over speed bumps, etc.. "

"Yes, the ride was great I love the sound,its perfect
The power increase is wicked fun and really something.
Talked to you soon,Thanks alot Bob."

Bob,

I can't tell you how pleased I am with your setup. I drove this car a lot today and was totally impressed how well this thing accelerated once I kept the motor between 5500-6500.  What a difference!  The engine never exceeded 200F water temp with most WOT runs and maintaining 180F most of the time.  Totally drivable at any RPM range and what was a real surprised until I ran it out fuel. The engine never lost power the entire time.
 Talk with you soon.

Bob,

WOW.

Driving the car with you last Saturday at 1500 to 2200 rpms the car wasn't noisy and seemed very  tame.  It sounded like champagne bubbles were coming out of the exhaust as the car approached the on/off ramps.

Today I pushed car a little more.  Then a little more.

Oh my.

Unbelievable.

It's not the same car.

I will be down very soon to say thank you in person.

-Bill

Ida exhaust

I love my Ida exhaust. Not bad at all after hours on the freeway or in town but love that sound when it's uncorked! It really is close to the original GT40 sound.
